Quickly called ”the beautiful garden” and considered as one the most beautiful parK in France, the park Barbieux was created on a site which was dedicated to an underground channel under the mountain of Croix. The landscape architect Geouges Aumont realised the project in 1878.
It requested fifty years for giving to the park its actual design. With an area around 35 ha and a permiter near 3 kilometers, the park is 1,5 kilometers long.
It represents the real natural heritage of the city and well-know place of walking for the resident of the metropolis.
The park was classified as a protected site by order on january 26th 1994.
