Bayeux Public Gardens : Rare varieties and an exceptional tree.
2.6 hectare gardens, extended by an avenue of trees covering 3800m_, created by the Bülher Brothers in 1859. The trees are clumped together by variety (holly, beech, horse chestnut etc.). The shrubberies along the edge of the lawn are raised above the level of the paths (gentle undulations, stepping). Broad avenues take you to every corner of the gardens.
Another attractive feature of the gardens is a 65m_ circular pond (built in 1870) surrounded by a belt of flowers (annuals or bi-annuals depending on the time of year).
EXCEPTIONAL :
The gardens' main feature is an outstanding weeping beech tree, like none other in France, made a listed natural monument on 13 December 1932, diameter 40 m.
