The Park and Gardens Of Montmarin : Close to Dinard and St Malo, just north of Rennes (45 minutes), the ”Montmarin”, only ”malouinière” on the left bank of the river Rance, was built in 1760. An elegant building in the Louis XVth style it has an interesting roof in the shape of an upturned ship's hull. The chateau is approached through the main courtyard that features a beautiful, 18th century, ornamental basin in Italian Carrara marble.
Overlooking the Rance, the Montmarin opens directly into a stretch of water, over 1 km wide. Its park consists of two main parts : the French formal garden (18th century) and the Romantic garden (1885), with its lawns, mixed borders, shrubs, plants and rockery. The Montmarin's unique botanical collection is enriched with new species from year to year. A varity of plants from the park are available from the nursery.
